My dad found an old drink ticket from the 80s NYC club Danceteria and scanned it for me. I always loved their logo and flyer designs.

Bryan and I were invited to Colorado to play and document the Communikey Festival. I had a fabulous time catching up with old friends, visiting a gorgeous part of the country, eating yummy food, and hearing really good music.

My girlhood imagination was endlessly entertained by these strange woman dolls. Not much gets me as excited these days. I can’t even explain the sheer bliss of waking up on Christmas morning to the sight of my vanilla scented Barbie Dream House, a home made of plastic columns, cardboard walls, and a working elevator! I actually fantasized it was my own real pink house. Today on the phone my grandma recounted years ago when I dressed my Ken doll in Barbie’s clothes and said “look Ken is dressed in drag!” She was shocked that a ten year old knew what dressing in drag was. Most of my Barbie dolls eventually got haircuts and an many became lesbians because there was only one Ken to go around for twenty Barbies. Thanks for the memories Barbie. Ha!
Steve and I had a blast today trying out my new lights, so far this is my favorite shot.

I had a chance to view Coraline in true 3D at the most lovely movie theater in New York The Ziegfeld. Coraline is far better and darker than most children’s films. The visuals were completely inspiring and I can’t wait to see it again and again.

Coraline and her kitty venture down the rabbit hole.

The mouse circus performance was my favorite part.

My dear friend Zoh invited me to see The Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall. Her costume shop she worked on the fancy crystal costumes for the final skit. It was a such a treat to have a ridiculously festive date with her.

My dearest friend and fellow good witch Dame Darcy had her art opening today at Sloan Fine art. Tonight, I arrived right on time at her opening and I waited (with her best friend) for her to arrive. We looked at her amazing illustrations and talked about how much we love Darcy. I have adored her work since high school and since then we have become close friends. After 40 minutes I went home and with a fresh copy of Gasoline in my arms. I can’t wait to cuddle with her drawings and her story tonight. I am so proud of her for finally publishing her book and I hope that she will have a brighter and better future once she moves out west.
Darcy, I know you are leaving New York with a broken heart but my heart will always be with you….
