I had a blast taking photos with my friend and very talented musician Safety Scissors. We had six costume changes, a few dranks, and a whole barrel of laughs.

He has a new record coming out on Bpitch Control called In A Manner Of Sleeping. You can preview it here on www.xlr8r.com

Spring is in the air and we’re all feeling a little flirty. The ladies of Kiss & Tell are back with Kiss & Tell resident DJ Bethany, The Bunker’s Bryan Kasenic and Move D!

We will be breaking in The Panther Room, a new Williamsburg venue. We are quite excited to settle into our new home and sip some after work cocktails as we listen to vintage dance music records on a brand spankin’ new Funktion One sound system.

You just might hear: disco, ladies’ choice jams, space oddities, geigh haus!

Dress to impress in your finest floral frocks. Wear flowers in your hair or in your lapel.

She Likes Weeds!

She Likes Weeds by Tee Set
Check out the silly video

There’s a longnosed dirty old witch Witchipoo
She speaks a magic word called Shackabadoo
The smell of thousand herbs is hanging ’round the house where she lives in
It’s built on magic ground
There’s an all kind coloured smoke raising up among her stirring red brass magic pot
Her chimney means a lot to her for her coloured boiling brew holding snake tails but just a few
She likes weeds, they’re easy to grow
They are easy to grow, easy to grow in the morning dew
She likes weeds, they’re easy to grow
And they always are there, everywhere when she needs a few

But she also keeps a cat or seven and a miles far hearing screaming raven
A magic stick, a flying broom are just a few things that she keeps in her room
She likes weeds, they’re easy to grow
They are easy to grow, easy to grow in the morning dew
She likes weeds, they’re easy to grow
And they always are there, everywhere when she needs a few…

Nick Cave’s Creatures
09.28.11 | No Comments

Yesterday I ventured to Chelsea to visit the two solo exhibitions by the artist Nick Cave. One is at Mary Boone Gallery and the other is at Jack Shainman. His work is a real treat to see in person. There is a really great documentation of the Jack Shainman show here on their gallery site.

I was sad to hear that today Boney M’s Bobby Farrell died in a hotel room in St. Petersburg, Russia. Bobby Farrell an exotic male dancer from Aruba, turned disco lip syncing mega star, with the help of producer Frank Farian. His is one of my favorite fabricated disco pop stars.

Check out some of his crazy videos.

Happy 50th Birthday Barbie!
03.09.09 | No Comments

My girlhood imagination was endlessly entertained by these strange woman dolls. Not much gets me as excited these days. I can’t even explain the sheer bliss of waking up on Christmas morning to the sight of my vanilla scented Barbie Dream House, a home made of plastic columns, cardboard walls, and a working elevator! I actually fantasized it was my own real pink house. Today on the phone my grandma recounted years ago when I dressed my Ken doll in Barbie’s clothes and said “look Ken is dressed in drag!” She was shocked that a ten year old knew what dressing in drag was. Most of my Barbie dolls eventually got haircuts and an many became lesbians because there was only one Ken to go around for twenty Barbies. Thanks for the memories Barbie. Ha!

Coraline in true 3D was gorgeous
03.04.09 | No Comments

I had a chance to view Coraline in true 3D at the most lovely movie theater in New York The Ziegfeld. Coraline is far better and darker than most children’s films.  The visuals were completely inspiring and I can’t wait to see it again and again.
